Coal Creek

Part 2

Channeling my inner “hospital waiting room” photography today.

I wanted to split the Coal Creek walk into two separate blog entries. It really felt like a turning point in the whole experiment, and it deserves a bit more space.

As I mentioned in the last entry, today there was a real shift in my attitude and the way I was approaching everything. I finally admitted to myself that using two cameras just isn’t relaxing—it actually makes everything harder. There’s way too much thinking about what I’m photographing, and not enough of just walking and shooting.

Letting go of that extra gear felt like a big step forward. I could finally start to enjoy the walk without overcomplicating it.

Before I completely move on from the two-camera setup, I did want to share a few images both digital and film to see if there’s really much of a difference between them. I think part of me just needed to satisfy my curiosity, and maybe get a better idea if all the extra effort was even worth it.

Same image, different cameras — one shot on film, one digital, both slightly corrected in Lightroom.
Surprisingly, the bottom image actually came out sharper and warmer, and honestly, I prefer it.

That said, the images themselves are a bit questionable — they kind of look like something you’d find hanging on the wall of a hospital waiting room. Not exactly inspiring.

In a weird way though, I’m actually relieved. I’m glad I won’t be continuing with comparing film and digital anymore because, to be frank, I just don’t care. I don’t want to get bogged down in that stuff. I just want to walk and shoot and that feels way more important right now
